Hey there! It's Gina from Teaching With Heart (formerly Miss Peluso's Kindergarten). Now that it is officially November, I can start thinking about all things TURKEY! There are so many great Thanksgiving and turkey themed books out there, but one of my favorites is A Turkey For Thanksgiving by Eve Bunting.
If you've never read this book, it's about a turkey who is invited to Mr. and Mrs. Moose's house for Thanksgiving dinner. He thinks that they want to eat him as Thanksgiving dinner, not have him over as a guest! It is hilarious and heartwarming all at the same time!
To make this wonderful book work for our shared reading time, I created a book companion to go with it. This book companion focuses on tons of reading skills such as making predictions, making text-to-self connections, identifying story parts, sequencing, retelling, and identifying problem and solution.
There is even an adorable craftivity to help your students think about the message of thankfulness in the book! It's the perfect way to tie in a holiday theme with a writing fundamentals lesson!
This book companion will be on sale for just $1 until Friday! I hope you'll join my class in reading this wonderful book this November!
