Commas and Synonym/Antonym Task Cards

Cassie here from Texas Forever (Formerly Mrs. Thomas's Class!) Today I am going to share with you two sets of task cards that I LOVE.

The ER months are my absolute FAVORITE.. I am a fall person to the core and Halloween starts this love for me! Today I am going to share with you my Halloween Synonym/Antonym Task Cards and my Fall Comma's Task Cards

The Halloween task cards could work well for those higher students in 2nd grade, but they were made primarily towards 3rd/4th grade vocabulary. My students who were early finishers last year loved them, they were very challenging and even required some students to really learn how to use a dictionary to ensure they were matching up the words correctly!

My fall task cards are comma's. Comma's in a series, dates, and cities/states.
I love creating with themes and it helps keeps the task cards current. The students also love the clipart- - no matter how old they are! :)

Head to my TPT store to get these $1 deals for 3 days!!

Get to know each other activities

Hey everyone! Cassie here from Mrs. Thomas's Class

I am bringing you today two different activities to incorporate into your classroom that provide knowledge into each of your students. It can be a way for you as their teacher to get to know them, as well as for them to get to know one another!

The first is my back to school interview cubes! You can find here
I include directions inside the cubes to help you put them together, or your students can. I had my students work in four groups the first few days of school and then they presented on one person in the room for the class to get to know them. I found that students would rather tell about someone else rather than themselves, sort of an icebreaker.
Here is the cover on TPT.

Here is a picture of a cube put together and one that has not. I would print on cardstock, it makes them hold up a lot better.
So as you can see, the questions are very personal, and what I love the most is that it's requiring the students to think outside of typical questions such as what's your favorite color, food, etc. I have included a recording sheet with the product, but I found last year my students loved writing about this person in their journal to have to look at all year long. At the end of the year they reasked those questions, and to some of their surprise, their thoughts changed - which leads to a good whole group discussion!

The next product I have for $1 that can be used primarily for upper grades is my early finishers journals. I loved this product so much last year in my classroom. I had those students who got done SUPER fast and then would be a big disruption if they were either pretending to read, or bored. These are just covers, I cut out and glued onto the front of spiral notebooks and they could go choose whichever they wanted. My only requirement was that there are NO JUDGEMENTS on what someone else writes, this is a way for them to write back and forth to each other, tell me things they may not be able to, etc. They can leave their name or they don't have to. Some students have never had the option of writing anything they felt down, and this helped. The stories can be real or made up, doesn't matter! It's totally just a way to get them writing, and they don't even realize it's benefiting them!

This is the cover and can be found here on TPT for $1
This is an example of what one of the covers looks like. Since I am teaching writing this year, I plan on going back and adding a bunch of new titles, so I would get it while it's on $1 if I were you ;)
My favorite thing is replying to the students. I wish I had a picture of the notebooks from last year, but they are in one of my 50 boxes in the garage!!! This year I vow to take more pictures!

Anyways, I hope you enjoy these two products! They are so much fun in the classroom and great to introduce as back to school activities!!!

Classroom Decor

Hey everyone! Cassie from Mrs. Thomas's Class

I am going to share with you today different decor pieces I have in my store!!
Last year I did superheroes and had pieces from School Girl Style to use in my room. I loved the theme and the idea, but my room was TINY. I realized that with my students overly hyper activity, the bright bold colors were almost TOO much. Which led me to what direction I am going next year for my classroom -- homey feeling, soft tones, burlap, and nature. (Which is what my house is, our wedding was, and our son's nursery is turning in to), so I have a keen eye for all things rustic and burlap!!

I created these letters which I LOVE and can't wait to get them in my room!

My intention is to print just like above and do cursive on top (or bottom) and print on bottom (or top) so my students can match cursive with print as well as have a visual that goes with the theme of the room!!

You can find these here marked down for a $1 for 3 days!

I also created a buggy theme for my first year teaching kinder!
This has EVERYTHING and I love it!!!

This is originally $6.00, but is marked down for three days for $1!!!
Get it HERE

Thanks so much for visiting!!! Check out my facebook or instagram for new deals and sales! :)

April TimeHop

Hey everyone! Cassie here from Mrs. Thomas's Class!

Today I am going to share with you what we were doing on this day LAST year in Kindergarten (According to TimeHop) and what we were working on the past two weeks in Third Grade!!

Non-standard and standard measurement was a big TEK standard for Kindergarten last year, so I introduced it through a bug measurement pack which eventually led me to our bug unit that I did this time last year. The kids LOVED the bug unit. It was so much fun. (Can you tell I miss kindergarten?)
Here are some examples of what we did IN class for non-standard and standard measurement and where you can find my pack for $1 right now!

I started by introducing nonstandard measurement by using objects in our room. We even measured our classroom with our bodies and our kindergarten hallway. It was so much fun! The recording sheet comes in my pack that's available for $1 for three days!
I am currently working on a year long pack of non-standard and standard measurement pack that is just like this but with clipart for each season/month. I had a few ladies request it and it's so much fun, why not! :)

The next thing is procedural text for third grade! We finally got to use the mini lesson pack I created and my kids had a lot of fun. I made it as hands on as I could because, well, let's face it, my kids learn by doing - as do most, right?

So let me explain each picture.
Top two photos. They created their own procedure that they drew out of a bag. They then had to write the steps and tell the class their steps. The class had no idea what their procedure was, they had to infer based off their steps. They kids had a blast.
The bottom two pictures are whole group formative assessment with the included passages from the pack. I had them write the answers on their desk with dry erase markers. So much more fun than pencil and paper, and I can check off who understood and who didn't.
You can find this pack here: click on the picture.

Thank you all so much for checking these out! If you have any questions, comment or email me at miller.cmarie@gmail.com

Parts of Speech Scoots and More!

Hey everyone! Cassie here from Mrs. Thomas's Class

I have been so invisible in this blogging world the last few weeks. Back to school WIPES ME OUT! Especially being in a new grade level, with a whole new curriculum, totally new schedule, etc. etc. etc. ;) I did start the new year realizing my 3rd grade babies needed some serious refresher in parts of speech, so I cooked this up real quick. *Pun intended* :)

Included in this pack is scoots, task cards, and write the room.

I had to introduce to my kiddos even how to play scoot, so then I also created to where they can go from seat to seat or around the room with these cards.
Everything in here has black and white AND color task cards with an answer sheet!

I will include a sample for you HERE!!!

This bundle will be on sale for $1 for three days HERE!
