I'm so happy to be here to share my favorite way to build reading and writing skills!
I love to include daily rhyming activities in my language arts lessons, and use quality literature and music to engage and interest my students. The rhythm and rhyme of the text and lyrics allows them to develop an "ear" to hear the familiar ending sounds, and this phonemic awareness then helps them learn how to change the beginning sounds to create new words.
Horn becomes thorn, fall becomes tall, and race becomes face! Suddenly, they are proud "Word Wizards" and cannot wait to have a rhyming good time during our Word Work and Writer's Workshop sessions!
