Fact or Fiction: Kick Off Your Persuasive Writing Unit!

Hello friends!  Spring break is over and the countdown until summer has started!  This week we are working on persuasive writing and determining fact or opinion. We started out making an anchor chart about what we knew about facts and opinions.  Then we worked on determining fact and opinion using the overhead projector and fact and opinion task cards.  We played Showdown.  This is a KAGAN strategy where each student responds by holding up a card that states either "fact" or "opinion." Sorry, I forgot to take pictures!

Next we played Scoot!

Tomorrow we will review their responses and play a board game during guided reading!  This will allow individual instruction and peer discussion/tutoring as student misconceptions are addressed.  I can't wait.

Later in the week students will sort the remaining task cards as part of our formative assessment.

It should be noted that this is ink friendly and all cards can be printed in black and white.

You can find this product in my store for only $1.00 for the next three days.  And that's a FACT!

See you next month!
