Star of the Week Dollar Steal

Hi everyone! My name is Amna and I blog over at Teach Two Reach: 2nd Grade Happenings

This will be my 8th year in second grade!

Today I would love to share with you my new Star of the Week pack. I've done Star of the Week on and off for the past 8 years and didn't get to do it last year, which I am totally bummed about. But this year, I am planning to reinstate it and revamp the materials I used when students were Star of the Week. This is because now I own cute clipart and I have no excuse to NOT make things look pretty.

I choose a Star of the Week on a Friday. On Friday, I send home the parent letter explaining what their child needs to do/bring in for the following week. I also send home a poster that they should decorate and fill in so we can hang it on the Star of the Week board.

In this pack, I've included an editable parent letter. So if a weekday activity doesn't work for you, you can fill in something different. During the week, students get to share their poster and pictures, bring in a show and tell item, bring in a favorite book for me to read, play an estimation game, and get letters written to them by their classmates which I bind into a class book for them to take home.

This is the parent letter that is editable!

Here is the poster that I will send home. You can send it home as is on regular size paper or print it to ledger size to make it more of a "poster size." You can do that at any office supply store.

All the students write a letter to the Star at the end of the week. I tell them they have to write at least three nice things or memories they have with the student. And they can't just say, "You are nice." They have to include a "because," in there too!

This is the "girl," cover. These covers are editable too so you can type in the student's name on top and write your class grade/year and your name on the bottom.

This is the letter template for kids to write their letter on. It also comes in lower elementary handwriting lines.

I included a blank letter template so YOU can also write a letter to the Star. You can also send home this letter for parents to write a letter to their child, send it back in a sealed envelope, and students can open it in class!

There are colored and color saving versions of half page boy and girl certificates to give to the Star at the end of the week!

There are also pieces included to make a bulletin board in your classroom that looks like this (minus that border). Plus I've included some printable ribbons students can wear during the week.

Soooo you can get all this for just $1 for three days!! It is normally $3.50. Now that's a dollar steal if you ask me... ;) Click HERE to check it out!!
